Bunnies Aprons R Easy to make

I went to Jo Ann's and found lots of cute items to dress up my Pre-made store brought aprons.





I stenciled some cute purple bunnies on the front of the aprons. Found some garland with bunnies and eggs on it. I glued the eggs & Bunnies under the stenciled bunnies. I like to glam it up.




I tinker'd around with the aprons and put some felt decorated easter eggs in place of the foo bunnies /eggs. They look really fun on the apron. Remember I can't cook very good so I really set a very good looking table and look the glamourous part with a good looking apron.




I then put together a bunch of curly ribbons, purple and lavender, wrapped them with wire, placed them on a safety pin.

Bunnies t-shirt 4 u and BFF

Are you looking for something special to wear prior to Easter to the office or shopping? You could use this idea for an easter breakfast apron (see my blog) or pack a new shirt into a easter basket.

Check out these pic of a t-shirt I am making? You will need either a sweatshirt (they are gone from the stores in So Cal) or a colored T-shirt. I choose a purple on from my close, will need to gather another one from my stash in the ever famous crafting closet. So you will need to gather up the following items.

1. A shirt of some kind.

2. Fabric paint of your choice, I chose purple folk art fabric Metallic plum, I added some gold glitter on top of the
stencils, I was using (will finish up and take a pic of the shirt)
I added pic of the stencil I used and an additional large wooden Easter egg I will use for another shirt.

3. Look for some cute sparkly easter egg foils that you can stick on to you shirt also, I used some felt decorator eggs.

4. I made a curly ribbons, by wrapping purple & lavender curly's and wrapped the extra wire around a safety pin, so I could attach the ribbons to the tie to make a fitted tee at the waist. See the pic.

Bunnies 4 spring

Well, I have gotten up and going on Windows8, this computer stuff is tough. I have had problems with getting photos on line, but here are some on my ideas for a spring (or Easter basket/shirt items).


I have make lots of these cute bunnies, as pins, clips and could be used as easter basket fillers, or put on a florist plastic card holder.

Check out the pic's! I have included a pattern for the bunny, note the measurements I have put on the picture. All you need to do is print the picture and copy it in UR printer enlarging it to the size I have on the picture, about 4 1/2 inches. You can make it bigger or smaller.

These bunnies are made out of canvas or muslin fabric (or go wild and pick out some pink sheeting or whatever, is in UR mind will see the vision). Here is what you will need to make alot of bunnies.

1. 1/4 yd of some kind of fabric for the body of the bunny
2. Use your craft wire for the ears.
3. I like to draw the face with pens. (Micron01 #1 arhival ink found in the scrapbook section)
4. Pink fabric paint, Blue for the nose.
5. Sewing machine to sew the sides together.
6. Clothes pins clip style, or pin back for making her into a pin.
7. Small piece of scrap fabric for a bow tie.

go gather up these items and I will be working on the directions for the cutie.


To get started you need to enlarge or decrease the pattern, I have measured my bunny, as 5x4" when this bunny is finished. You are going to stuff the darn thing to bring it to life. As you can see I put a ruler next to the pattern so you could gauge the size. I would measure the protractor right next to the pattern to see if you got it to the right size. What the heck it could be any size.

Cut out the bunny. Cut 2 the front and the back.

Cut a slit in one of the patterns,(this will be the back. needed for stuffing and putting in the craft wires for the ears).

On the front side mark the face features,(remember the cuter the eyes with expression the better) so use the recommended pen) Paint the inside of the nose pink, blush in the cheeks and ears with a light effect just like blusher on your face. Dot the center eyes with black pen and then add a small white dot for highlight with a fabric paint that comes with a pointy tip (I used the Tulip PUFFY paint, if puts just the right dot. Practice with a scrape piece of fabric.

Sew the two pieces together (this the face showing ----this is a raw edges showing, easy plseee). Insert the wiring in the ears, you can cut to size if you want, or bend the wire in one ear and then go on to the next ear. You now stuff the face of the bunny, only slightly, these would make it a soft look.

Sew up the back with small stitches, or you could glue it up also, whatever, you do best. ADD a cute bow under the chin. Voilá a cute bunny, add the clothes pin or a pin back.
Look at how cute and cleaver you are.

Mother's day project 4 U

Since I slept though Valentines day, and starting with Easter or Spring back, what about Mother's Day.

Do you have a special friend that you want to send a great fun Card with a really neat gift?

What about making an apron or Tee shirt for her. I have several friends that I have lunch with on special occasions, like the weekend prior to Mother's day. Sometimes they are on diets, so candy and flowers isn;t going to work. So I am trying to think about something special I can make!

Apron is a bad word to me, since I can't cook, I try but it doesn't work for me. My work folks never told me that was great you should make a cookbook (that would be to me, them telling me to make more for them). My wonderful husband tells me, not to watch the food or cooking channel, because everything I make is not so good. But i like to look G8 when entertaining at my house. So lets approach this Apron thing from a different angle.

Here is what you would need to make an apron.

!. A pre-made canvas apron from the craft store, since it is spring going into summer, let get white or off white.

2. Some spray fabric paint called stencil spray Opaque.

3. Stencils so you can spell out a cute saying and someone's fun design.

This could be a great idea for that school Boutique, when you need to bring several items with a $50.00 value.

window shades update

Well, I went to Jo Ann's to complete the replacement of my new windows shades. Remember I had made a mess with the knit fabric I brought. They look great with the exception of the shade on shade pattern is running down hill.

I have a Hint or tip for you if you are going to do this project!

Buy of course when fabric is on sale, but I found some very perfect drapery sheers fabric. It is 108 inches in width. I only needed to buy the total length of the 8 panel window door. which is 70 inches.

I saved a lot of money, plus I had a coupon giving me an extra 15% off on my entire purchase.

So when doing a project like this check out the drapery fabric especially the sheers, 108 inches wide is a lot of fabric for the money. (I got the fabric at 50% off + 15 % coupon) hah!

Spring Sweatshirt 4 U?

I know by watching the news that is is still cold out there in the east of the Mississippi!!!

Lets make a new sweatshirt for you or a BFF or UR sister or mother? Are you tried of the same old-same old colors out there Do you Want something that stands out in the crowd. I simply love "YELLOW' so I have gotten my own colors. I can hearing you say are you out of or mind?

That is a big no!!!!!!! I buy a new sweatshirt in white so I can choose any color I want, and than go to Walmart or Jo Ann's or Michaels to get some fabric dye. Since I love yellow, I buy the bright yellow, a pkg of bright yellow good for one or two shirts. Since a sweatshirt is heavy gauge fabric and if you want a good coverage of your shirt, then one package is what you need.

So lets go out and buy or on-line buy a few new white sweatshirts, then get the color of dye you need to make your shirt merry and fun!!!! Lets say lovely pink, or light shade of easter green?

Think Easter or spring fling...let go for it. I will get mine today, and we will go through the dye process together. (I have been dyeing lots of shirt for years, and they turn out very well, with some of them coming out with a mottled look., meaning high/low coloring effect.) Then we can put on some fabric cut outs or beads on them.

Go out and get your shirts and Dyes

2/26/2014.....I can't find a sweatshirt at Walmart, since it has been warm here, I guess they moved on to tees & shorts.
Going to dig through my stash of shirts, I know I have several white sweatshirts somewhere around here.

I found a hooded sweatshirt at Jo Ann's, however, I am not into hoody's, so I am going with my fruit of the loom men's sweatshirt. To dye it, I will need the following

1. bucket (got mine from $tree store)
2. one bottle of dye or package of dylon dye.
3. salt to set color
4. plastic wrap

I went to the Rit web site and followed the directions, adding hot water to my bucket, mixing the dye,
soaked the shirt, then let it sit in the bucket. They say to take the item out of the dye bath, and wrap in plastic wrap, put it in the microwave for the 2 minutes on high. I think that sets the color.

put in dyer, (take the wrap off) to dry the item. it is now ready to wash in the washer, I don't wash it with other white items. So be warned.

Ok have a new idea, get a pink sweatshirt, and use the spray fabric paint.

What do you want to learn..we can do it together

Having problems with my computer, it seems like window XP does have a mind of it own. I think it doesn't like my camera mixing into a picture of anything we are talking about. I have been reading up on the camera and it's connection to windows.

What would you like to learn about. I am still waiting for a remnant sale at Jo Ann's, but I have been checking out curtains at Home goods and Anna's linens. I have found that hanging drapes that are carried in their line. I like their fabric selection. The cost is about the same as buying fabric at Jo Ann's. I need to make a decision soon. Can't keep looking at these problems every day. It is driving me crazy.

Valentine's day gifts

Do U give your Bff's a small something for Valentines Day? When I was working the entire office would go out to lunch to celebrate the day, lots of ladies took there mother's to lunch also. It was a very good day. Some of the girls got flowers so the office looked real good and smelled nice also.

What do you do? I have thought about this one for my daughter, I found some marigold seeds (they also had zinnia's). What about a small gift bag, (those clear bags with hearts on them) include the seeds, heats candy (maybe those candy hearts) and a gift card from Starbucks (they have some real cute heat shaped cards) for $5.00? The total cost of this idea would be right around $7.00. If you add some of Costco wired ribbon, you could drive up the cost to maybe $7.50.

Did I say those Marigold seeds were in a box and they stated on the box holds about 300 seeds. I plan to put some dirt into a small pot of course with the seeds. I think they will look very nice on my front porch. Marigolds or Zinnia's last all summer around here.

Just returned from $tree Store, they have a wonderful collection of Valentine items. If you are going to do the card, box of flower seeds and some candy. They have all of these items (not Starbucks card) small balloons on a stick or mylard balloons. Need to go nd check it out.


I have enclosed 2 pictures of hearts, a shirt I made out of a long sleeved shirt, it had some errors on the shirt, and covered up the problems with heart shaped iron on fabric, and of course gold fabric paint. I love it, so try making one for yourself. What about some hearts on a summer tee, to show off your love of hearts. The second pic is a curly ribbon hair clip that I put on a Christmas bag, think of what you could do with a birthday bag or something for the 4th of July? I would make a double gift, a new hair clip and the gift bag full of 4th of July surprises, (you got from the $tree store or the 99cents store, what about some chocolates). Go and make some up and give them to someone special...just because.

Decor 4 UR windows & finishing the entire room

I am just finishing up my window covering, they are turning out really nice. It is easy to remake your room. When you buy UR window fabric, start thinking about a matching fabric. You ask Why? I am going to start next month with covered waste basket, that is made out of decorator fabric, this would be a bit heavier fabric. Since the decorator trend is not to have everything matching in the room. The rule of thumb if you have a print in the room, then a stripe will work well with the heavy print or you could go with a plain color with a print imbedded in the fabric. The main thought is check out the left overs in the decorator fabric section, see what will work for you? You will need about 1 1/2yds if you are using the old waste basket, that is already in the room. What I am saying is I use all small sized waste baskets, since they fit into those small places.

You will need the following:

1. A waster basket that fits the size of the room. I like the small rubbermaid, type found in cheaper stores or the one you have in the room at this time.

2. 1 1/2 yds of decorator fabric

3. 3 yards of matching 2inch ribbon for a bow

4. Iron on clear plastic coating. It can be brought at Walmart or craft store.

Are U ready to add NEW Shades to UR room

When talking about window shades, you may want to match you decor, in a window that has a roller shade already installed within the window. (I have a 8 panel door, hence the roller shade hangs on the door with brackets that are supporting the shade, and casement windows the shade fits inside the window and side of the window. Please keep in mind the shade needs to roll up within itself. I have found the thickness of the fabric is something to keep in mind. I now know sheer fabric doesn't work well, over time. If you are a person that will be changing these shades and colors in your room then go for it.



I found some knit fabric, that is similar to old fashion curtains. This fabric is some what stretchy and very thin so it will be easy to roll up and down within the window. So a heavy type fabric would not do in this case, however, I have used in the past a light weight canvas fabric, it was striped and similar to very light decorator weight fabric. When choosing your fabric please keep this in mind, how is this fabric going to roll up into the roller and fit into the space it sits in the window (will it be free of the window casing)?

I have cutout my new fabric for my Family room window shades, I will take pic's of the old shades; however, they are in bad shape. I guess you over look the ugly and never want to look at it, when you look at it everyday. I have pieces of sheer window material that has started to string in places, I had seen that starting last year and I would take some white glue and brush it on to the backing to smooth the strings into place. You can't do this to the entire shade, hence the shade is a mess.

I learned a valuable lesson learned is don't buy sheer curtain fabric, since it doesn't wear well for this application.
unless as previous discussed you are the type that changes and updates your room often.


Ok I have ironed the knit fabric with the iron onto pellon backing material(I used pellon craft 809 Decor Bond). please note this fabric is stretchy material so take care when cutting this stuff to your size window measurements and when ironing it onto the pellon, to fit to size. Will post pic's of this process. If the fabric you have chosen is full of wonderful color, match with a good thread color. Mine is off white and white thread will do. I can hear you saying what are you talking about????

Step two is to get out your small sewing machine since I don't want to use my surge(r) since this will make the pellon to type of a stitch for the fabric to roll up on the shade roller. So I use a zig-zag on a 2 length and width of #3. This is what I call a running zig-zag. This will hold the fabric and pellon together, with the movement of being pulled up and down in daily use.

Ok, this is a new day.....I have zig-zag the entire door shade and one of the larger window shade, the fun has began, I am now ready to add trim to the shades. I have a tassle to add to the door shade plus several types of trim. I have learned the hard way that you can not pin the trim to the shade and have it turn out straight, so I found some iron on tape called "Iron on hem tape" it fits the size of the trim without cutting or measuring the size of the trim. Regular iron "Heat'n Bond Ultra Hold Iron-On Adhesive-17''x12''". You iron on to the trim, then take the paper backing off so you can iron the trim on to the shade. It will hold the trim into place so you can sew the trim on without it moving or shifting. As an extra bonus you can see if you like what your placement is what you want.


Here is a hint .....this iron on stuff will stick to your iron, so when your in Walmart in the sewing section grab some
Dritz iron cleaners (it is hanging very close to the iron tape). It works the best of all the iron cleaners I have found.

Well, this is the next day, DUH......I hung the shade on the roller to see if the trim, look straight on the door as well as, looking balanced with the door. I have a red face the width of the shade is about an 1/8 of inch to width. The shade does fit the roller but it hangs to close to the mechanics of the roller. This will make the shade rap around the roller shade to close when the hanger that supports the whole shade. I had to take the darn thing out to the garage and cut the side down a hair. I get a great big duh or maybe 2 big dubs

This is in retrospect after the shades are hung, I have found that the knit fabric stretches .....here is what happened to my shades

The long hanging door: it doesn't hang well, I believe I stretched the fabric to fit the pellon, the shade doesn't fit the sides of the door. I had to put hook & loop on the sides of the shade (the hook portion is stuck to the door, so when the darn thing is pulled down, you can't see inside my living room from the side.
The larger window shade has the knit pattern, the weave of the fabric is running a bit cadawompous or not running straight across the window the design is running a bit down hill. Needless to say, these shades are leaving this house as soon as Jo Ann's has a 50% off designer fabric remnants. I am not a type of person, that will not look at my errors, and get mad all over again. Good Bye errors, and will learn from my mistakes, don't make iron on shades with knit decorator fabric.
