Now is the time to check out all the sales on Halloween stuff

Ok, ladies, here is what you need to do .....check out what you may need for next year. I have a wonderful terra cotta pumpkin on my door step. It is perfect for me, it is heavy so the wind will not blow it away, however, it is very useful for me right through thanksgiving. I just simply turn the little cute thing around
so only the pumpkin will show. Viola, instantly, I can continue the fun at my door. The wreath still works and with a pumpkin on the door step, I am good to go till Day after thanksgiving. Then you can change out the pumpkin and wreath, to Christmas items.

Point being is a simple terra cotta item can be really great for you. Check out the sales get a item that will transform your front door or entry way. Think out of the box.

Tips for UR dark colors and fall clothing

I am making some really cute Christmas aprons for my ESTY.COM web-site, they are black in color.
As you know Black is a very funny color sometimes they fade quite quickly. So I set the color by simply, doing the following... Wait I need to back up a bit in time, and tell you what happened to my brand new dark pants.

I had just purchased some really cute jeans from Marshall's and Ross's. Since it is fall, going into Winter, they were black, dark green and dark grey in color. I was so stupid in just washing them on hand wash in my washing machine. I had put some other items in with them and I washed in cold water and even added some of those lovely color catchers that will keep colors from running on to my other cloths in the tub. Wellllll! I am such a dummby?.

I had a nice pair of shorts that turned green and a nice pink shirt that had black marks on it when they came through the wash. I get a big
DAH for that. I forgot about soaking them in a bucket of hot water with some added salt. It sets the color. Remember when you dye some things, you put salt some where in the recipe for the dye job. Check out the web-site for dying items. They are telling us to use salt and to wrap you item in plastic wrap and put it into the microwave? It is the heat & salt (I think) that sets the color.

I did 9 black aprons in salt and hot water. I washed them in hot water with a cold rinse, I tested them by putting in a dish cloth and some white socks. Everything came out just the same color they when into the washer. Wow.... what a concept, black will stay that color for a long time and not come out on the other items in the wash.

By the way I took my jeans and soaked them in the salt solution to preserve the color longer and not to have any more problems with their colors fading on my other laundry.

If you do have some jeans or dark jean type pants that are not the color you brought them in, such as fading,
you can do what my friend Juanita does is she dyes them again. She always has the freshest looking jeans.

I just wanted to share this thought with you, so you can save your colors also.

Ting-Ting has been found

I have talked about putting ting-ting into my door wreath and BFF flower vase. I have just seen them at Micheal's and Jo Ann in there Christmas decorations. I have seen them in gold & silver in two different quantity sizes at Micheal's. Jo Ann only has silver in a small wrapped size. Check it out

Do you see it in the vase, it is curling up past the rose. I really like them in arrangements. You should check it out and use one of those 40% coupons on it or maybe they are on sale right now.

Christmas ribbons for ur hair Great gifts

curly ribbons are a great idea for cute gift bags. Check out my blog entry on how to make these very reasonable gift ideas.

You can put the ribbons on a jaw clip and attach it to the handle of the gift bag. Make sure to add a hang tag to tell your birthday or Christmas bag receiver that this is part of the gift. Just think about how clever you are to make something so thoughtful. I also have included instructions for smaller children's hair clips.

These are easy to make!!!

Reviewing Christmas Arrangments ideas

I was looking for something in the garage and ran into a nasty mess, I have made my garage a mess, with all this craft stuff.

Enough said, about that mess, I found some more stored items I used in making my Christmas floral arrangements. I have used Christmas Glass balls that I had wire wrapped the Christmas ornaments on skewers to add to the tree branches. I also added fake snow to the branches, with spray glue found at Home depot or the crafts stores. I would spray the glue to the branches including the ornaments then toss on the fake snow. I have found that the snow gets in short supply in the final weeks of The season. So I guess I should put this item on the list of ingredients.

So Here is the added items............
1. Tin vase on the large size (the bigger the more sparkly the item is especially if it is a gift.

2. Glass balls on the small size ...get two sizes on the small size

3. Fake snow, I brought Buffulo snow, it has some sparkly stuff in it.

4. Small can of spray glue.

Get ready for Christmas floral arrangement

I need to remind you to take inventor of items you will need for my favorite stuff to make for Christmas besides eating cookies and chocolate during the Holiday season.

It is a Christmas pine arrangement, either made out of fake Christmas tree branches or my favorites "real pine tree" branches. It leaves all the rooms you put it in with that heavenly smell of the season.
Here is a list of items you will need when the trees arrive on the lots. I have posted some pic's of the filler I like to add to my vase full of pine branches

Check this picture out of the vase; I have used in the past. It looks ugly, if you have one like this and you want it sparkly, use automatic dish washer soap, put a small amount in the vase with hot water, let is sit for a few days. It will look like new, but it is doesn't matter with this project, you are going to put wet foam inside the vase.

I live in So. Cal. so I only know about Christmas tree lots and of course the neighbors pine tree that has lots of branches on it, along with quite lovely pinecones, however, getting a ladder out to reach over the 6 foot block wall is a bit embarrassing to say the least. So I go to Home Depot and buy the bundle of green or go to the florist to buy the darn stuff.

List..........
1 large glass vase or those tall metal vases
1 pkg of wet floral foam (best price is Walmart unless you use a 40% off coupons at the usual crafts stores)
1 set of wire ribbon either you buy as a bow or make it yourself from the ribbon you brought from Costco
2 large fake floral holly bushes or branches with red berries on them.
5 or 6 Christmas picks in bright shiny stuff ( you know much I love shiny items, just love it when added to this project)

These are just some of the ideas, on what you will need.

This is a large arrangement so it can fit on the fireplace hearth or in the front entrance of the door or by the family room TV? Where ever you want something fabulous. This is a type of items your family will think you are soooooo smart and cleaver. I have made these cute florals for friends and family for years. I wanted to make them for my employees when I was working, but my husband said it was very hard to get everything together and have it fresh for them, so I made artificial floral items, so I could control the conditions of situation. You can hardly give your employees some dead stuff?

Lets get gathering up the items we need so when the trees arrive in December we are ready to make them up and look fabulous along with our creations. Come to think of it I added some real mums to the arrangement also. Well, my mind isn't as it use to be so we can make up stuff as we go along. What do you think we can add to this item?

I point to remember, if you want to make this for friends and family, plan ahead and buy all your filler ahead of time. I have brought all my Christmas filler at after-season sales, and found, that if you are going to do this,.... if you wait till 12/26? there will not be anything left.
I have found now days, this stuff goes on sale the week prior to the big day. So put on your Calendar, to check for sales the week of 12/22?

lets do this!!!

Lets finish this Christmas pillow 4 U

ok, have been working on some other Halloween crafts, but have come up with the final sewing instructions for the gift bag pillow or Christmas pillow.

Turn the darn thing inside out, so you can attach the interfacing and facing to the pillow.

See the pic's of the attachment.
Do you see the facing and the body of the pillow pinned together.

the point of the pinning the interfacing ( you have ironed the
interfacing to the facing, you can be creative and make your facing out of a contracting color fabric or what ever you have around in your stash of fabrics. maybe even lacy stuff)

Please note that the edge of the facing and interfacing has been zig-zagged to make a finished edge. Inclose the entire fabric of the pillow, so when you turn the pillow right side out you have captured the edge of the pillows, and making it look finished.

Now you can add the fun stuff. I like to add wired ribbon and maybe some curly ribbons from your collection. Let you mind wander see what your inter voice has to say. Check out my pic's.

Viol`a you have a perfect gift for you or a BFF.

check out my curly ribbons

Just in case you didn't know I have given the recipe to making curly ribbons, in an earlier post. Check out my picture right next to this post? I have a picture of Christmas ribbons in my hair. They make excellent gifts or ribbon on a gift bag ( but make sure they know it is a hair clip so put a hang tag on the clip, stating check me out!!) Here are some pic's of the blog.

Check out the flower that is an excellent gift for a BFF. It is a fake one. I came back from a Walmart Super store and found another good set of Fake roses and a white carnation. Have attached some pic's from that post. Go Girlfriend with some really great gifts for this wonderful giving season.
